Bl-DIRECTIONAL BALLAST PLOW
Why be stuck with a plow faced the wrong way? The Montana Hydraulics Bi-Directional Ballast Plow eliminates extra time and machinery during ballast delivery. An exclusive design allows the plow to automatically shift blade positions for either direction. It’s powered by a 12v solar charged hydraulically actuated system. Positive locking mechanisms ensure safety in travel and a floating mode during plowing. Over 200 in service with Class I railroad.
GRIZZLY SIDE DUMP CONVERSION
The Montana Hydraulics Grizzly Lift Kit is a new design for an old system. The Grizzly Lift Kit uses state-of-the-art hydraulic systems and modern components to make your side dump cars more productive, safer, and cost effective.
The Grizzly Lift Kit was designed and built in-house by Montana Hydraulics and represents the newest and most innovative system available. A careful process of design requirement review was employed to create the new design, based on input from users, buyers, and maintenance planners.
This new air-over-hydraulic design promises improvements over existing hydraulic systems, which have been advancing performance and reliability well beyond air-operated systems through the last twenty years.
BOBCAT TARP SYSTEM
Ballast cars working in colder climates need protection from icing conditions. The bobcat system keeps employees from having to climb the car to keep ballast covered. The chain drive mechanism can be operated manually from the ground. Our new design promises to survive loader operations due to it’s design and heavy duty construction. This sliding tarp system has been fully tested and is currently operating successfully on 11 ballast cars, with more to come in the near future.
LOW PROFILE BALLAST GATE UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Our new ballast gate project is a heavy duty, low profile ballast gate designed to reduce fatigue and last longer than traditional gate designs. It can be part of our refit program and can be used with under car conveyor systems. Prototype testing expected in Spring 2019.

Ballast cars of all types, as well as hydraulic dump and air dump cars maintained by our qualified Field Technicians.
